Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from Fashion Design with a broad offer across womenswear, menswear and knitwear, Textile Design and Fashion Textile Design, with print, mixed media, knit and weave specialisms, to highly specialised niche programmes that are synonymous with the region’s heritage in Contour Fashion and Footwear Design.  

The Fashion Buying suite provides the opportunity to study the ever-changing retail space, while studying a pathway in Design, Marketing or Merchandising, while our communications programme Fashion Communication and Styling is a popular choice for students wanting to work in the industry as communicators or stylists.  



BA Hons Fashion Design

BA Hons Fashion Design course aims to nurture individual creativity and entrepreneurship concentrating on the relationship between design and technology. 

The course offers specialisms to study in menswear, womenswear and or fashion knitwear, with the emphasis on creative freedom & design innovation. The course allows students the opportunity to cultivate own design perspective and style by exploring fashion design through cultural, social and critical exploration. By combining creative arts, technical accolade and digital technologies students develop skills and translate designs into original, responsible & innovative looks. With close links with industry our students experience a rich and varied curriculum designing to consider a more sustainable fashion future


BA Hons Fashion Communication & Styling

The BA (Hons) Fashion Communication and Styling course encourages & develops individuality, to creative think and apply the essentials of styling and image making across a range of technical and creative practices.

The course allows opportunities to progress skills in visual research, art direction, illustration, photography as well as project management preparing students for industry as creative visual communicators and practitioners.  

Students combine their passion for image making and storytelling with a focus on how the fashion industry identifies target audiences, customers and then engages them on a global, lifestyle, multimedia stage.


BA Hons Fashion Textile Design

BA (Hons) Fashion Textile Design introduces students to the fundamentals of fashion textile design. Through combining a range of practical textile skills across knit, print, stitch and embellishment, with the complementary fashion design skills.

The course offers advancing research, conceptual, creative and technical strategies that allow students to determine their own creative direction. Encouraging students to learn to enhance the value, luxury, and craft of our traditional practice by embracing sustainability, digital design and communication technologies that are shaping the future of the industry.


BA Hons Footwear Design

B A Hons Footwear Design has a rich heritage from the 19th century to the contemporary footwear industry and is the only single hons degree in the UK.

Throughout the course shoe design and technical making skills will be developed, emphasising the crucial relationship between design and manufacture and the needs of the footwear industry. 

Working directly with industry professionals and big brands such as TOMS, New Balance & Sophia Webster to name a few. Students gain valuable insights into new products and technologies and can specialise in performance footwear, men’s, women’s, or children’s footwear.

Previous graduates have won several accolades, including first prizes at the Lineapelle Footwear Competition, the prestigious Bata International Design Award, Moda Footwear Competition and most recently winner of the YKK Accessories Award 2019 at Graduate Fashion Week.


BA Hons Contour Fashion

Established in 1947, the Contour course has unparalleled links with the UK and global intimate apparel industry, providing opportunities to work with national and international companies on live projects, work placements, competitions and awards.

Specialise in lingerie, athleisure, swimwear, loungewear, nightwear, corsetry or menswear, and study a range of topics that will develop specialist skills. These include skills in conceptual design and application, pattern cutting, grading, fit methodologies, technical excellence and manufacturing

Recent graduates employed by ASOS, Gymshark, Agent Provocateur, Triumph, H&M, Clover International, Heidi Klein and Nichole de Carle.

Contour Fashion (Communication) BA (Hons) is a related course aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in marketing and promotion within the intimate apparel industry.
