Working closely with industry and responding to contemporary creative practices, we help our students develop as independent individuals ready to work in their chosen career path. We offer several pathways including the BA (Hons) Fashion 3-year programme, the BA (Hons) Fashion part time programme, the BA (Hons) Fashion with foundation year 4-year programme and the BA (Hons) Fashion Top-Up year.
Our Fashion programmes are driven by a considered approach to design and creativity. We will encourage you to balance your individual creative expression with industry awareness. You will explore the impact of fashion at the individual, local and international levels. Alongside trend and concept-led collections, you'll consider the performance, functionality, and longevity of clothing for different purposes. Awareness of sustainability and ethical practice is embedded in the course at each level. You will develop fundamental skills in design, pattern cutting, garment manufacture, fashion illustration and CAD. Module briefs include commercially based design projects, live briefs, competitions and commissions, and self-initiated projects. We'll offer you the chance to enhance your employment prospects by undertaking a work placement in your second year. There are opportunities for collaborative briefs with students across the wider Bolton School of the Arts and digital Technologies. The sharing of ideas and practices across disciplines helps you to gain a broader understanding of the position of fashion in the wider creative and global creative industries.
