Create beautiful bespoke, hand-crafted fashion and prepare for work at the highest levels of the industry on UCA’s specialist BA (Hons) Fashion Atelier & Tailoring course at UCA Epsom.
As the only one if its kind, this unique course will give you the technical skills, individual fashion language and confidence to create extraordinary work.
You’ll learn specialist draping, creative pattern-cutting, machine and hand-sewing techniques as part of your study of atelier principles and processes. As well as bespoke tailoring and the couture approach to ‘soft’ sewing, you’ll also embrace new technologies, including digital 3D fashion.
Recent graduates have gone on to work at Craig Green, Victoria Beckham, Vivienne Westwood, Huntsman, Norton’s & Sons, Burberry and Roland Mouret to name a few. UCA’s BA (Hons) Fashion Design degree course at UCA Epsom has an established and enviable reputation within the international arena for producing highly skilled and sought-after graduates able to work and inform fashion at the highest levels of the industry.

Through our focused and inspiring curriculum, including ‘live’ industry briefs and collaborative projects, you’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of research, design and visual communication skills reflecting current industry practice, as well as future industry needs. Fashion stylists are at the front line of the fashion industry, working across fashion shoots and celebrity events, and even with social media influencers. This course will teach you to work with others to create looks, explore ideas and experiment in the studio and on location. You’ll learn how to tackle any brief, benefit from a wealth of industry expertise, and have access to our extensive fashion facilities.
In addition to core units, you’ll have the chance to collaborate with students across our other fashion and textiles courses, work with industry partners, and undertake a work placement.
Our students have gone on to work in events and creative direction at M&S and Gucci, styling at i-D Magazine and Net-a-Porter, and even presenting and hosting fashion events in London, New York and Milan.

Exploring established and expanded conventions within contemporary fashion photography, and producing highly creative original work using industry-standard facilities, you’ll benefit from a wealth of industry expertise, work with fashion stylists and make-up artists, and develop in-depth practical and professional skills. You’ll also be able to undertake a work placement.
Staff teaching within the cluster include photographers and image makers, stylists, makeup artists, archivists, and experienced academics. They work across a range of outputs for clients including Vogue, ID, Show Studio, VICE, BBC, The Guardian, and Wired.
Our students have gone on to work as photographers, retouchers and studio assistants, and have worked with industry connections including Hermes, Indoi and Men’s File magazine.
