Heriot-Watt University, School of Textiles and Design is a hub for creative thinking and design focused individuals.
Located in the Scottish Borders in a community that has a historic connection to the textiles and design industry.
The school offers excellent and well-resourced workshops and studios to allow students to grow and thrive creatively, whilst being taught by a professional and motivating academic team. BA (Hons) Fashion
Our Fashion Design programme confidently prepares students for a career within the fashion industry. As well as learning the fundamentals of fashion design, students learn about the key elements of the fashion business, to enable their success in the fashion industry, and acquire creative, critical and communication skills. Extensive links and collaborations with our industrial partners help students to gain a ‘live’ learning experience.
BA (Hons) Fashion Communication
Offering the only Fashion Communication programme in Scotland, we give students a unique opportunity to develop their own creative style on a course that wins awards year-on-year. The programme takes you on a fascinating journey through the world of fashion communication. Getting under-the-skin of contemporary culture, understand how changes in our society drive new creative concepts, and develop your knowledge and ideas to communicate a contemporary fashion statement.
In 2017 and 2018, our students won the ‘Fashion Photography Award’ and the ‘Fashion Styling, along with the Creative Direction Award’ in 2019 at Graduate Fashion Week. In 2016 and 2020 we were finalists in, Fashion photography, Styling and image making, Film, Digital media, Music, Advertising, and Journalism.
