About Me

Hi, I'm Zahra, Fashion Design Graduate at UCA

In my creative journey, I'm committed to personal growth, expanding artistic skills. I research and skillfully combine artistic elements in fashion design. I'm captivated by incorporating architectural angles, flawlessly integrating structure into garments with meticulous attention and precision.

In addition to my fashion design studies, I've pursued knowledge in textile creation, including crafting my own fabrics. I've honed my skills in carving metallic fastenings, lending a distinctive touch to my creations. Specializing in traditional embroideries, I blend traditional and contemporary aesthetics in my garments. My design philosophy embraces structural sharp elements, layered compositions, multifunctionality, precise pleating, and clean minimalistic finishes. Inspired by the beauty of distress and imperfections, these elements contribute to the unique character of my creations.

INSPIRATION

Chapter 11: The Last of the Samurai, Baba

My final collection is inspired by and dedicated to my father, the warrior of my life. He has always been my protector and raised me to be resilient like a warrior. Drawing upon these feelings of protection and strength, I have translated them into the attires of Japanese Samurais and their armors.

Drawing inspiration from the timeless elegance of Samurai attire, my collection exudes sophistication with sharp shoulders, intricate pleats, layered compositions, and purposeful designs. Moreover, I have seamlessly incorporated elements from the bold and self-assured style of 80s women's power suits, instilling the wearer with an empowering sense of strength and resilience that mirrors the indomitable spirit of a true warrior.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

Rusted Metallic Painted Leather and Handmade Metallic Fastenings

The initial idea for the leather components of the collection was derived from the shields of Samurai armor. I aimed to imbue my own signature touch into the leather by first oxidizing its base, creating a distressed texture. Once the leather achieved the desired texture, I proceeded to paint it with rusted metallic colors inspired by the aged appearance of Samurai armors. Some of these armors required fastening to the body, which led me to create my own metallic rings for the armor straps. Utilizing a brazing machine and bending aluminum wires, I meticulously crafted accurately measured rings for the armor straps.
