About Me

Hi! I'm Yuting, a fashion design graduate from Kingston University

I’m a fashion graduate from Kingston University, specialising in womenswear and print. I explore a lot of topics about self and freedom. In particular, women's exploration of self-awareness in a new era.

In the post-epidemic era, I think more on the topic of self and freedom. We want to break the shackles of the world's vision, free from the bonds of traditional definitions and live for ourselves. Women are becoming more and more independent, confident and powerful, wearing different armour, examining, recognising and liberating themselves in different fields and situations. But battle suits don’t have to be as tough as armour. It has been a strategy for thousands of years to use softness to overcome strength. Soft but strong, gentle but not soft, refined but not confined to the classics.

INSPIRATION

Using art to express the knowledge of humanity and thoughts on life, death, love, dreams and faith

I tell this story through dance, sculpture and mystical religious rituals. I hope that women will be like moonstone, having that ghostly sheen moves under the surface of this hard feldspar, like moonlight glowing in water.I took inspiration from the ballet 'Orpheus and Eurydice',which tells the most beautiful Greek mythology with a tense body language. With a devout soul to perceive the body, with great perseverance to overcome boundaries, with strong faith to keep seeking.

DETAIL

Find the balance

For this project cotton and linen, and silk, were used to bring nature to life. At the same time, the use of metallic accessories adds an aura of 'rigidity' to the softness. I got inspiration from medieval aesthetics, referencing knight's armour, while doing research into Renaissance sculpture. The great artists used the hardest marble to sculpt the softest bodies. I want to express in my way the balance of nature, the balance of body and soul, the balance of masculinity and femininity.
