About Me

A GRADUATE FROM FU JEN CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY . TAIWAN,TAIPEI

Chen was inspired by his unsolvable philosophical question - whether man had free will or not ; he used a series to convey his views on the subject .

"I don't think people actually have the ability to manipulate their will freely. In fact, I think everything in the world is regular, and behind the scenes it may be causation, or cosmic rules. It's the subconscious makes us mistake ourselves for having the will to decide things," Chen said.

INSPIRATION

FREE WILL

The narrator discovers that it is not the ego that controls behaviour, but rather the rules of the universe, and possibly causality. These beings have free will to control all human behaviour.

It is the intersection of the body and consciousness, with double-sided printed sequins, reflective fabrics and watery muslins conveying the image of consciousness gradually breaking through the body.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

Chen uses a large number of reflective cloth. These are the silhouettes when they reflect.

Chen has been doing the relationship between the body and consciousness. He mainly present this series in a structural way. The garment from the most beginning was complete, but the clothes start to fall apart in the process of representing consciousness rushing out to manipulate the body. He uses a lot of rope to indicate the strength of the controller, digital printing and ruffle to show the existence of consciousness.

In this series, I used six sets of clothes to tell the story of how humans found they weren't the ones who manipulate themselves.
