Weiren Theo grew up in Indonesia before moving to Milan, Italy, with relatives who are fashion industry professionals, giving him opportunities to explore creativity in fashion at the age of 16. He interprets modernity by mixing Indonesian Culture with Contemporary Fashion through his Milan based brand, LeanderWei.
Showcasing strong patternmaking, tailoring, draping, and knitwear through his garments both in Menswear and Womenswear, with a mind for both aesthetical and technical design. The designer believes in constant development in order to deliver a product that holds innovative silhouettes, materials and construction.
INSPIRATION
Creating garments through a conscious cross-pollination between Indonesian culture with Contemporary Fashion. Looking back at the Past to reimagine the Future through an approach of re-examination and re-thinking, challenging that fashion is and how it can be improved, tied to an innate curiosity for the search of “newness”.
As an upcoming, young brand that takes the matter of sustainability to heart, throughout the collection materials are sourced from Italian Manufacturers, that are only deadstock fabrics and yarns. Translated into desirable products. Collaboration with both traditional Indonesian craftsmen in order to preserve traditional arts and culture, as well as new emerging artist.
