I’m Weiqiao Si from China and I am studying fashion design at Donghua University.I am a typical Chinese girl with a shy personality, but after university, I have become more and more willing to talk to others. The exchange of ideas with others through conversation will make me more mature，and at the same time I can get more interesting information.
Like other graduate students, I started to focus on the production of graduation design as soon as I entered the final academic year. After a series of processes such as determining the theme of inspiration, making, and showing graduation design, I have gained a lot. Fortunately, my graduation project was loved by teachers and classmates at school, and won the title of Donghua Top 10 Emerging Designers. At the same time, I am very grateful to be selected to participate in GFM. For me this is a good opportunity to encourage and show myself.
My inspiration is derived from the Dutch artist Janssen’s work of strandbeest. I think strandbeest is not only a simple mechanical system, but also a product of the intersection of art and technology.
Under the background of the school's big theme—circulation, I chose to expound the way I think of nature from the perspective of bionics. With strandbeest as the inspiration point, I want to express that people learn from nature and learn from nature. Apply it to clothing to express the cycle of people, things, and nature.
In the context of the major theme of circulation, the combination of people and things and nature, so that clothing has a sculptural beauty. The curve shape is often used in the shoulder, waist and back to show the harmonious relationship among the three. In the physical dimension, the biggest feature of the curve compared with the straight line is that it contains the space of the arc, and forms a certain tension, which produces a plump and round feeling in the vision. The surface shape produced by curve segmentation contains curves with innumerable different directions, so the resulting surface has dynamic and changeable characteristics. Because of the huge external structure characteristics of the bionic animal, the lower waist part and the upper shoulder part transform the two-dimensional clothing structure into a three-dimensional multi-directional structure to show the structural strength of clothing modeling and space.
