I moved to England looking for a better future. I decided to listen to my heart and study fashion once again but this time in Solent University. I’m most passionate about directing artists’ style for gala events. I’ve noticed how the different cultures I’m familiar with have influenced my self-expression concerning art
As a Venezuelan, beauty contests have also left a footprint in my fashion knowledge. My mother’s origins are Italian, allowing me to appreciate fashion in the numerous ways in which art is expressed, films, paintings, music, sculptures, etc. At the same time, my father’s roots have helped me value the beauty of the different Nicaraguan indigenous tribes that I’ve come to know. Certainly, I can say that during my stay in the UK so far, I’ve learned to step out of my comfort zone, to go beyond what I’m asked for in order to think, act and express myself in different ways I was not able to do
INSPIRATION
The silhouette has been inspired and developed from the combination of the birds of paradise through collaging with selected glamorous characters from art deco, golden age and glam rock: creating soft, voluminous and organic garments. The colour palette has been taken by the muli-tones feathers of the Black Sicklebill bird. Fabrics and textures were carefully selected and mixed ,taking in consideration how they shine, how they feel and the structure they can apport.

DETAIL
Glamour is considered as magic, beauty, charm, mysteriously exciting, alluring physical attractiveness, especially when artificially contrived. Who doesn’t feel wonder and attraction when in the presence of something truly glamorous? Although we consider glamour to be a very human notion, it is impossible to deny that glamour exists in nature. Consider the peacock, birds of paradise, orchids, lilies, leopards and tigers. Extravagant colours, textures, shapes, forms and decorative elements are necessary to their survival. Like us, they use their glamour to gain attention, exhibit their power, to appear sexually desirable. Throughout human history, in times of uncertainty and economic and political disruption, glamour has offered a form of escape. The Hollywood stars of the 1930s embody this spirit - their beauty, power and sexual appeal a tonic to the realities of the great depression. Once again, we find ourselves in difficult times and once again, the desire to live in the moment.
