I had an idea to create this collection, this sparked me to enrol in the four year Advanced Diploma in Fashion program. I am talented at graphics, so many of my works incorporate digital printing.
Please see the culmination of the works made during my student life.
INSPIRATION
When you walk down the street, you might find graffiti painted by someone. And you don't know who painted it or when, but these art pieces exist like something “meant to be there”, colourfully adding life to the grey concrete.
In this collection, the elements of graffiti and stickers (tags) are applied to textiles. I created the “STREET CHIC” collection combining street style with items made from suit and shirt fabrics.
DETAIL
Almost every look in this collection incorporates original graphics made by silkscreen or sublimation printing techniques. This is the first time I used sublimation printing on a knit fabric, so it was a fun experience with great results. In addition, I modified the volume of the sleeves and back style of the outerwear, which is the main focus of the collection. By making the lining shorter than the outer material and sewing them together, I have achieved volume effect. In addition to casual materials (like the one I used for making sweatshirts), the collection is balanced by incorporating formal materials like organza and satin. This collection has a total of 9 looks. There are 3 looks in addition to the 6 looks presented in the gallery, so please watch the video of the runway show of this collection.
