As a recent Fashion Art Direction student, I possess a vast interest and knowledge of practices and visuals. My main specialisms are photography and art direction.
Contexts such as identity, inclusivity, culture and minimalism are frequently featured in my work. I adore that every country has its unique culture and identity. I believe that individualism should be celebrated. Appreciation for minimalism, both as a style and a though process, stems from being from the Nordic countries. I moved back home in Finland because of COVID-19. Restricted by mediums, I experimented with varied processes available to me, which made way for more playful outcomes. It´s intriguing to note how our environment affects our work.
INSPIRATION
Nowadays it’s easy to get swept away with the technological advancements. The role of craft explores our human experience beyond the visual. Craft calms down our high-speed society. In a way, craft is a tool to connect the heritage of the past with our present. These tailored pieces are long-lasting investments, creating distance to fast fashion.
I enjoy photographing fascinating details and architecture. Recurring lines, geometric shapes and structures create simplistic, yet dramatic imagery. In this particular editorial, I was able to combine the graphic forms with the tailored garments, supported with the cityscape as a background.
DETAIL
My most recent project explored thoughts such as “dreaming of living a different life”. People have different ways of escaping the everyday, which has heightened especially now. I aimed to transport the audience to new worlds through photography. Even domestic situations can feel otherworldly.
