About Me

Hi, I am Natalia from Manchester Fashion Institute

While Exploring the archives and manuscripts at the British Library I have been inspired by the lines and beauty of the manuscripts and illustrations that represented the scenes from Shakespeare’s plays. Also, John Galliano’s art is inspiring me to be brave and strong in my design.

The main focus of my project and approach is to connect the best part of humanity's present and past experience by applying the innovative technologies in order to unite with people creating future Planet Sustainability. At the same time, I was driven by the desire to create something completely new that did not exist before in Fashion industry and I have succeeded. Digital visualisation software such as Clo3D was extremely helpful and useful in my design creation. It was allowing me to see how the garment would look like and would let me to develop physical garments design immediately.

INSPIRATION

My own innovative practice how to get new fashion silhouettes with sustainable technologies approach

The fashion industry is a direct source of destruction of the planet's ecological sustainability. The CLO3D innovative technology was used to design and develop my garments which allowed to save the consumption of fabrics and materials. Also, it shortened the time of production and lead to carbon footprint reduction up to 30%. At the same time, the 3D printing technology was applied which optimised the process of production and reduced energy consumption facilitating more efficient design with less waste.

My project includes both digital and physical garments. I was observing how efficient the interaction between Clo3D and Gerber Accumark technologies was and how these tools were helpful in the development of my design. I was checking their accuracy on toiles I had made. To produce my outfits, I incorporate not only sustainable Fashion technologies but also the usage of natural leather which is the by-product and has less negative environmental impact than vegan leather.

DETAIL

Innovative method how to use 3D printing technology in Fashion

Being interested in sustainable innovations I started my experiments using 3D printing technology applying with leather to get embossing. Traditionally, each embossing design requires the production of a mould for the filler used. Often it requires many attempts to produce an adequate mould with which to make the filler. This problem restricts the quantity, quality, flexibility and variety of designs. Using the 3D printing technology excludes the step to order the mould production, giving flexibility to create a variety of new designs that incorporate embossing. But I didn't stop only experimenting with leather. I began to make same experiment by placing 3D printing flexible elements between two layers of fabric and stitching them together. I have got volumetric silhouettes of the outfit. Applying this method to different types of textile or leather makes them work together as a product with an aesthetically new look, with better durability, tearing properties, and raises the possibility of new designs
