Fashion design should pay attention to cultural characteristics, but also the times. Folding cities is a series that I was inspired by the situation of people staying at home in order to ensure their own safety and social stability during the global epidemic. During this period of isolation, I gradually understood the importance of isolation.
Although people's lives are inconvenient during isolation, it is precisely because of effective isolation that cities can contain the epidemic and quickly recover. In my opinion, this is a sacrifice of freedom for each of us in exchange for the safety and health of the whole society, and it is the proof that all of us humans have overcome difficulties together. So I want to reflect from this aspect the impact of the epidemic on our lives and how humans can think of ways to save themselves, overcome difficulties, and become better and better in crisis situations.
INSPIRATION
My inspiration comes from the state of people's home isolation during the epidemic
In the special period of the global epidemic, in order to protect the lives and health of themselves and others, people have been isolated from home for a long time, facing the dilemma of shrinking activity area, single route of action, and separation of living space. The city seems to have been "folded". It is the origin of the theme of my work "Folding Cities".
Through the keywords of the path of action and the scope of the activity, the map is first thought of. So in the preliminary research, I collected some information about city maps, and then in the second-hand research, I found some clothing and apparel works related to "repetition", "folding" and "folding" as reference.The color scheme of black, white and gray is adopted, and the repeated geometric figures are used to express the folding, and the geometric parts are used as external accessories.

Combination of touch-sensitive quantum light and clothing
This series of clothing starts from geometrically divided blocks, and uses the repetition of the city map and the road map in the pattern. The geometric part is used as the outer accessory of the clothing. This part is detachable, which can be worn or hand-held to form different effects. Many touch quantum lights are used on the material, which can be touched and extinguished by the human body, thereby generating an interaction between the wearer and the clothes. In addition, this kind of light can be controlled by a mobile phone application or remotely controlled by a remote control. When the indicator light is on, the visual effect of the map pattern will become different. These two sets of clothing explore the combination of clothing and interactive technology. I think the combination of interactive design and clothing has broad prospects and research significance, and it can find new directions for the development of clothing design.
Although quarantine at home is very depressing, it is far better than being forced to quarantine while lying in a hospital bed, and it has less impact on our economy, life, and even our family.
