I am passionately interconnected with fashion design, which serves as my artistic language of liberty. My graduation work was presented as a runway in the World Design Conference Center (WDCC 2022) this year September. I once worked in Valentino as a merchandising intern for 4 months.
In recent two years, many events, like national wars, global pandemics, gender conflicts, species extinctions, have happened around the world, making me feel an unprecedented sense of responsibility to the whole society. I also want to participate in more social topics and changes as a fashion designer and I am trying to do that.
INSPIRATION
As we all know, flying is the safest way of transportation in the world. The frequency of air accident is low but the risk is high. For ordinary people, traveling by air is just a way of transportation. But as for me, my father is a captain and in his career, he has escorted countless planes and passengers to protect the safety of each flight. Therefore, I hope to express my heroic feelings for my father through this series. At the same time, I also want to convey this remembrance to everyone.
Inspired by the documentary "Air Crash Investigation", the popularity of aircraft has not only brought efficiency progress to mankind, but also brought great destruction. Today, the increasingly safe aircraft structure and flight regulations are constantly improved in painful disasters again and again, which is quite moving. I tried to anticipate the disaster, making a rational analysis of the destruction and progress brought by aircrash and I hope to express the harmony in contradictions in my project.
DETAIL
After disassembling the aircraft parts, I focused on the seat. People are closely connected with seats during flight. When the aircraft is flying normally, the seat can protect their body. But the chaos in the air crash makes people get tied to their seats. The damage and disintegrate of the seat will cause harm to the body. I transformed some parts of the seat and inflatable life jacket into clothing structure and referred to the pilot's uniform. I simulated the chaos when an air crash occurs and add special structures to the clothing, combining 3D printing with sculptural modeling as part of the clothes structure to convey the concept of protection. I think it is precisely because both installation art and garments has the nature of three dimensional. So this combination may create more possibilities.
