About Me

Hello! My name is Sydney Munden from Kent State University

An admiration for vintage fashion, textiles, and art history drive Sydney Munden’s aesthetic and approach to modern, vibrant prints and designs.

As a thrift store employee, I am in charge of the vintage boutique for clothing and antiques. I constantly research and study seams, fabric quality, and luxury brands, which heavily inspires my aesthetic.

INSPIRATION

My grandmother and her 1960s record store have sparked my interest with vintage inspiration.

Sense of Place is a menswear collection that focuses on the "in-between phase" of architecture and reconstruction. A few ways to reconstruct a building: 1) tearing it down entirely and building something brand new or top or 2) keeping key/historical elements and adding modern features on top. This collection utilizes industrial-inspired notions like grommets and zippers and combines them with details like raw hems and patchwork to depict the building and reconstructing of an older building.

My first project, Retrospective Space, is a take on elevating a 1970s garden party and using prints and vibrant colors to depict a vintage-inspired collection.

So OK, I don’t want to be a traitor to my generation and all but I don’t get how guys dress today. I mean, come on"--Clueless (1995)
