My name is Sofia and I am a fashion graduate with an interest in publication design, branding, marketing and social media. I have a passion for creating digital work with a strong focus on typography and graphic design. I strive to create work which is inclusive and challenges the status quo, I want my work to be progressive and transcendent.
My time at university has been exceptionally beneficial to my growth as a creative individual. I’ve learnt that success requires utilising many talents and wealth of imagination but also hard work, thoroughness, commitment and remaining productive under pressure. It is essential, in my view, to be able to challenge myself and to continue to use my role in the industry as a fashion communicator to create a work that is inclusive and fair.
INSPIRATION
Zena is a fashion and lifestyle magazine championing women artists and creatives. It redresses historic under-representation of women in the arts and creative fields. It is motivated by the recognition that the gender gap is widening and factors such as the pandemic have distressingly made the situation worse.
Highlighting the creative spectrum from fine artists to photographers, designers and poets, Zena is an inclusive and safe space for women to express their creative individuality. It is available by subscription and comes packaged in a bespoke box featuring handcrafted items from contributors. Supporting small women-owned businesses and independent brands is core to what Zena magazine stands for; an honest, ethical and transparent creative industry.
DETAIL
This project aims to create a community for artists to share their stories and creative journey. Through meaningful interviews and editorials my publication strives to make an authentic change. Collaboration is core to Zena; by championing upcoming artists and activists they are able to create opportunities for those in the industry. My final project is tactile and collective, incorporating the work of creatives in a variety of mediums that produces an experience for the reader. The first issue of zena includes sustainable packaging, keepsakes made from recycled materials and items which help profit small and independent businesses.
