Hi, I'm Silvia, a fashion design graduate from University East London
Silvia is a creative director of Silvia Pola design who is a specialist in tailoring and innovating with the typical patterns that already exist giving them a new form and shape. She focuses her design on elegance through comfort.
Growing up in Spain in a village called Leganes, a city Locally in Madrid, Spain. Consider part of the Madrid metropolitan region. La Cubierta is a bullring in Leganés, Spain. It is at present utilized for bull battling and shows. I have always been amazed by the suit of lights a traditional Spanish costume.
INSPIRATION
The suit of lights has a unique construction of embroidery and silk that remind me of my dad's style
My inspiration is my dad and his style. His style is so elegant, and he dresses very formally such as in ties, blazers, shirts, and trousers. I always helped my dad choose which tie he could wear for work or an important event from an early age; this was the favorite piece to wear in his wardrobe. I remember growing up enjoying helping him decide which tie he would wear.
Bullfighting is a Sport traditional in Spain; the bullfighter or ‘matador’ is a characterizer for wearing a suit of lights an embroidered beautiful costume that is worn for a tragic ending. One of my curiosities was why a beautiful costume was made for such a tragic experience. My design process is based on exploring the pieces and forms of the costume with the goal of achieving a beautiful ending.
