About Me

Hi, I'm Sif a Fashion Design Graduate from Leeds Arts University

Sif Thrastardottir is an Icelandic Fashion Designer who moved to the UK in 2018 to follow her dreams to study and expand her connections within the fashion industry.

Sif's life philosophy is "Be the change you wish to see in the world, inspire others, and enjoy the process". Each garment she designs has a message and meaning behind it which intentionally addresses important, but often unspoken, societal issues. Her looks are known for vibrant colours, and intricate stitching detail. Starting from a blank canvas, she uses impactful colour and emotion to bring the garment to life.

INSPIRATION

Dedicated to all the survivors of sexual abuse, especially the ones whose stories we never hear.

Drawing on personal experience, Sif was inspired to make a change; this collection is designed to support survivors and encourage positive sexual expression, authenticity, self-love and empowerment. The collection is her visual promise that "No-one is alone; We stand together". The silhouette and colours for each outfit draw inspiration from the emotional process one goes through after sexual trauma.
 1. Shock & Denial 2. Depression & Guilt 3. Anxiety & Anger 4. Re-Acceptance of Self

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

Expression through Customised Fabrics & Prints

Sif uses pattern, contrast stitching and reflective fabric throughout the collection to tell her story through the clothes. The final outfit showcases a print she created with a personal and empowering letter to herself and others who have experienced sexual trauma and blamed themselves for circumstances they had no control over. The reflective material is a message to return the guilt and shame to the abuser by shining your light and loving yourself.

“Breaking the silence is difficult, but it is necessary. My story is one of many, heard and unheard, and it only shows a glimpse of the effect sexual abuse can have on a person.” - Sif Thrastardottir
