My collection was inspired by my Irish farming heritage, prompted by the article that showed my Grandad being arrested for protesting farmers rights.
Taking aspects of workwear pockets and farming clothes from old family images, I created the silhouette for the garments. Using innovating pattern cutting on the digital software CLO and Lectra, the garments retain the functionality of workwear pockets with abstract shapes.
INSPIRATION
My Initial Idea started from My Grandads arrest fighting for farmers rights during the 1967 national farmers protest in Ireland. I then began to look at old family images that displayed my heritage in farming and informed some of my garment silhouettes. Additionally, I looked at different types of workwear pockets to create abstract shapes and functionality in my garments.

DETAIL
I used hardwearing fabrics such as denim and waxed cotton for my collection, referring to the robust nature of traditional farmers' workwear. Additionally, the collection consists of contrasting materials taking a sophisticated stance on patchwork used on hammy downs typically seen in Culchie upbringing. For the collection, I also created my rib to go with the woven jumper fabric taking the accent colours of orange and blue.
