About Me

Hey! I'm Shanae, a graduate from Ravensbourne University London

Growing up in Hong Kong, Chinese culture has become an integral part of Shanae's identity and serves as a key source of inspiration throughout her body of work - which aims to introduce various elements of Chinese culture whilst incorporating a minimalistic and stylistic twist.

With this body of work, Shanae's goal is to shed light on the beautiful and charming nature of Chinese culture. In the current climate, Xenophobia has become an incredibly prominent issue within our society- thus, she hopes that her project will not only be able to promote a wider acceptance of Chinese culture, but also captivate and educates its viewers.

INSPIRATION

Quarantining at home was my inspiration for my initial idea.

Staying at home for such long periods of time made me realise how integral your living space and surroundings are to your wellbeing and mental health. With Covid-19 directly affecting our lives, I wanted to introduce various elements from my own culture that would benefit our consumers- Feng Shui, in Chinese culture, is a practice that harmonises individuals with their surrounding environment for the purpose of prosperity, health and good fortune.

Lucky Homeware aims to produce and curate homeware and loungewear pieces specifically inspired by Feng Shui, each of the pieces are designed with traditional influence whilst still embracing a modern and chic twist. I believe that this is extremely relevant during times like these- where positivity is needed the most.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I used 3D rendering to create all the homeware and loungewear pieces in my collection.

Creating these 3D renders of homeware and loungewear allowed me to design an app called Lucky Vision, which utilises Augmented Reality (AR) to allows the users to bring pieces of Lucky homeware to life in their homes, by simply dragging, resizing and placing each 3D furniture render into their desired spot. This AR technology allows for consumers to browse, experiment, and purchase pieces of furniture from the comfort of their own home, without having to visit a physical store.

Our home is such an important and meaningful part of our lives. Feng Shui allows us to make the most of this connection.
