About Me

Sandra Kolodziej, Fashion Promotion Graduate

Sandra was inspired by her Polish background and the culture she was raised in. The desire to tie all of her interests from sport, music and fashion with her background was what drove her to start her magazine. Issue 01 has allowed her to explore all of those areas

The mission of issue 01 has been to create a platform that showcases Polish talent in the creative industry. It’s allowed me to build a network of talented creatives with Polish backgrounds from around Europe. Becoming creative is not a common or easy choice for Polish youth due to lack of opportunities and inspirations in smaller cities and ASIDE is here to change that.

INSPIRATION

My ideas started from exploring the themes of utopia and dystopia in a way meaningful to myself

During the lockdown period, I spend a lot of time wondering what the future held for all of us, would the world we re-enter be the same as before. I was imagining various scenarios which evolved around the themes of utopia and dystopia I used those concepts as a theme for my 01 Issue focusing on capturing imagery showing a perfect and distorted world.

Lockdown allowed me to spend a lot of time with my family, this was where the desire to dive into my background came from. I wanted to learn more about the creative culture and industry in Poland. This allowed me to create a source of inspiration for young creatives, encouraging them to join the industry through inspirational interviews and imagery as well as build a network of creatives.
