About Me

Hi, I'm Russia, a womenswear fashion design graduate!

I am an experimental Womenswear Designer, not afraid to disrupt the norm, therefore, creating a fresh take on the modern women. Challenging gender ideals and focusing on loud print and colour combinations that push limitations within yourself, the wearer.

STOP & STARE is a womenswear collection for confident wearers who combine ease with standout looks. It is unbound by gender norms and unrestricted by time of day. The concept draws inspiration from my grandma whose style is curious and undefined. With her spirit as my muse, I integrate furniture designers and architects to inform silhouette and colour.

INSPIRATION

This collection gives the wearer the power to creativity.

The collection further responds to a fascination with architecture, interiors, furniture and the home. If the collection is a house, each outfit is a room that collectively lays floor plans to a whole narrative. Furniture designer Charlotte Perriand’s modular and functional design philosophy is juxtaposed with Le Corbusier’s desire to create fun abstractions within his paintings. The challenge of the collection is to combine the two yet maintain the attitude of both in a contemporary fresh collection.

DETAIL

My Grandma would always remind me to just STOP and STARE.

This quote is what inspired this collection, the idea of cherishing the details of life. By appreciating the stillness we can further understand madness and chaos.

“Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the slaves of the ordinary.” - Cecil Beaton.
