About Me

Hi I’m Rosie, a Fashion Business and Promotion graduate.

Rosie Fielding specialises in Fashion Business with a passion for Diversity and Inclusivity. She has explored the industry through different perspectives and roles throughout university. Being recognised and awarded for her Fashion design projects prior university, she hopes to enter the industry giving out the same impression of hard work and dedication.

At college, I studied Fashion and Textiles. During this time, I chose to explore in depth the Lingerie industry and gained a better understand the practical side of fashion and design. Looking back at how far I have come, I am immensely proud of where I am and hope to continue to grow my knowledge in the fashion industry. At university I have learnt so many different skills from Adobe creative suite to networking, I feel confident and excited to enter the world of fashion and to be apart of something meaningful.

INSPIRATION

Inclusivity has motivated me to work on ways to improve the industry.

I began to research into the Lingerie and Sportwear sectors to understand the current issues the sectors face. Diversity being a universal issue in not only fashion, but in all industries, I was able to see how brands were showing inclusivity. With lingerie and most sportswear, the garments are more revealing and should be a chance to celebrate different body types and ethnicities. My research made me consider what the word ‘inclusive’ means to me, compared to how brands interpret the word.

The lack of diversity and inclusivity which brands continue to avoid, motivated me along with the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, to come up with a solution. Noticing the rise of plus-size models and racial diversity shown in marketing campaigns, I felt that diversity was becoming a trend rather than a movement. Diversity is more than size and race, but is also about age, disability, and gender. From this I decided to explore my design skills and create an inclusive sportwear range.

Creating a marketing campaign for women of different abilities to get more active.

The campaign I created focused on Inclusivity, Wellness, and Sustainability. I believed this campaign best suited the brand Adidas for its past campaigns and supporting events. With the growing rate of obesity and overweight adults in the UK (mainly due to the Covid-19 lockdowns and restrictions), in partnership with the NHS, this campaign is to encourage women to get moving, whether this be walking, running, or going to the gym. Along with this campaign, the new inclusive range is carefully designed to suit different body types and sizes. From research I collected, many women felt that sportswear was not suited to them unless they had a slim and toned body. Women of older ages would also not want to invest in tight crop tops. This range is less fitted; adaptable in the sense you can mix and match but also can be used as swimwear. The range has added features including thin padding in the briefs for women with incontinence. The material is also made from regenerated nylon.
