Coming from a family of farmers and a love of making things I designed my final year project around my local area and family history, looking into family photo albums and a local photography archive from my village I pulled a range of photos I used for inspiration. Since I got my love making from my grandad I tried to make a project he would enjoy.
Stretham is a small village about 30 minutes from Cambridge, it's where I grew up and it's the base for my research. My grandad was my biggest inspiration growing up. His creativity was always overflowing, he would make all the grandchildren toys and sit with us to paint and make things. He always encouraged us to make and play and he is the source of my creativity. From this love to make i started my own brand under the name foxglove where i began customising and making clothes, this quickly grew into a passion that took me to uni to learn how to make it all the best way.
INSPIRATION
Putting the project together I experimented with textiles and patterns to blend materials with camouflage. I experimented with embroidery, appliqué, patches, fabrics, dye and print to create different leaf textures and organic patterns. I took this forward in different pieces of the collection and applied camouflage details to wool, denim and tweed and mixed them with my workwear garment designs.
My final collection came out strong creating a complete set that can be mixed and matched while keeping to its workwear countryside theme and the garments are constructed to a professional standard
