About Me

Greetings I am Ria, Footwear & Accessory Design Graduate from UoN.

I believe that beauty resides in everything. In India, the city of Kolhapur, has many hidden treasures, I went to discover a 19th century palace, in one of the oldest civilizations in the country, with a part turned into a museum. I visited the City Hall Museum, which is located in a neo-Gothic building, with pyramidal roofs and lake in front of it.

My craving to be able to go outside again for a fun day at beach during the Pandemic seemed impossible in the near future. It was then when I re-visited my memories at this beautiful, quiet beach in nature’s lap, with the rising issue of sustainability today have forced everyone to question their social responsibilities. My message is to make harmony between fashion Industry and Environment without having to compromise our values.

INSPIRATION

“The best Ideas might not be ours.” - Janine Benyus

About two years ago, I went to discover a is a small coastal town near Kolhapur, Ganpatipule. It disconnects you from the mundane life and lets you soak in the abundant nature. You can choose between beach, cliffs, dense foliage and roads that pass through a thousand shades of greenery. The Kolhapuri Chappals are famous worldwide and are divided into several varieties, having in common the fact that they are very thin and light. This inspiration

Is to challenge the fast fashion industry, approaching a minimalistic modern era towards Slow Fashion, making sustainability fashionable, creating pieces that will stand the test of time. Combining design and social responsibility in the best possible way, preserving artisan techniques, hand-made crafts and fair trade, proving that creative fashion doesn’t have to come at the expense of our values.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I used Veg Tan Tucson Leather, made from a process that comes from Nature and returns to Nature.

YUGEN - means Universal Generation that triggers feelings too deep and mysterious for words, this collection is “NO-STITCH” designed to last, while the material’s versatile beauty absorbs traces of experience, as it ages but doesn't deteriorate. Therefore, by combining the hand-crafting techniques and avoiding all forms of synthetic products and portrayed my concept by enhancing the value of 'less is more.'

After all, “In Natural World, definition of Success is the continuity of Life.” - Janine Benyus
