About Me

ABOUT ME - HI ,I’M RAFFAELLA A GRADUATE FROM NAPLES.

I inspired by my childhood memories for my collection, which also has a message of encouragement to rediscover the old values. I uses the recycling of items from her family’s old trousseau.

My message is the rediscovery of old hand-made works, that are no longer handed down to subsequent generations. Craftsmanship is disappearing in this frenzied new society.

INSPIRATION

My first idea started during a common day in lockdown while I watched the trunk of grandmother

Remember arises during this negative year in which the only creative scenario was the home. The mind traveled looking at the photos fished out in black and white, touching the fabrics of my grandmother’s old clothes and her trousseau but, above all, paying attention to what was her collection of porcelain dolls.

Elements that allowed me to reflect and create a story, a collection of different stories, different memories, enclosed in a dress that can bring with it the emotional value of the family archive. My research focuses on fabrics of our family’s outfits, a recycling of sheets, blankets, and crochet works that decorated the furnishings of a time. Following a typical style and volumes of doll clothes.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I used recycled doilies made by myself to create a new pattern.

Through the movie I wanted to create flashbacks to parallel the present and the future. Narrating the stage of memories and reality with a final melancholy note. the video is a preview of the collection where they are shown outifit in which I played through a coordination of nuance of various types of doilies ,to create a patchwork that acts as embellishment to the fabric.

Life is not the one lived, but the one that remembers and how to remember to tell it.
