About Me

I'm Phoebe, a graduate from Manchester Fashion Institute

As a stylist and creative director, I take inspiration from my surroundings and current social issues. Social media and modern technologies contribute massively to the ideas I explore through fashion imagery. I want people to visually enjoy my work, whilst also drawing attention to the meanings behind it.

My work attempts to encourage people to question stereotypes and the mainstreams of our modern society. I combine interests in fashion, art and sociology, and embrace when these themes collide. I like to find the fun within the mundane, and visually spin social issues in a playful way. I aim to intrigue audiences, and creates conversations surrounding my work.

INSPIRATION

I created an editorial to exaggerate how COVID has made some people feel alienated.

'Welcome to Earth... It's a bit strange atm' is a light-hearted interpretation of how the world and basic social interactions have changed due to COVID-19. The editorial tells a story of a human introducing an alien to the new COVID ruling world. Throughout the pandemic, I have been intrigued by how creatives have used the pandemic to influence their art. I wanted to add a humorous element to something which has changed all our lives, and bring a sense of hope that it's coming to an end.

The models were shot in individual studio bays, due to COVID rules and restrictions. Instead of attempting to shoot the models together in a location or different studio, I wanted to play with visually representing social distancing and the space COVID has created between us in society. The vibrancy and hyper realism adds to the alienated feeling I hope audiences can understand and relate to during these times.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I create characters that I embody myself through styling, makeup and photo manipulation

My interest in character creation comes from the ideas that you can choose to present yourself as anyone you like online. Social media is a huge interest of mine when considering modern society in my work, I have exaggerated the ideas of a false internet reality by turning myself into many different people.

You should always looks for the fun in the mundane.
