Paris was inspired by fashion and political topics in society
Paris created a fashion magazine for her FMP that includes topics like the Black Lives Matter Movement, the lockdown period and life after lockdown which is conveyed through editorials, trend reports and interviews. My message: I wanted to create a body of work that allows people to immerse themselves in the imagery and connect to or learn from the experiences that people have shared.
INSPIRATION
Like many i was devastated at the tragic occurrences in 2020. Obvious instances include the outbreak of COVID 19 which left the world at a standstill and increased mental health issues worldwide. In addition, the death of George Floyd which propelled the Black Lives Matter movement into the spotlight. I know many of us want to forget 2020 completely but it created conversations on subject matters that needed more attention therefore my aim is for my FMP to continue to spark the same dialogue.
In order to maintain the theme of fashion i wanted to feature a vacation editorial to reflect 'Life after lockdown which creates an ‘I wish I was there sentiment’. Due to restrictions easing up gradually, this will hopefully entice those who are longing to travel again and gather fashion inspiration for resort season. Lastly, I created a beauty editorial which embraces self expression and individuality as I was inspired by the continued creativity of make up artists during lockdown.
DETAIL
This particular editorial reflects the lockdown period in a romanticised fashion. Since we were shooting in a small space we experimented with gels and plastic material in order to bring the concept to life. Having created this illusion further emphasises the feeling of entrapment and being consumed by our thoughts during this time.
