A menswear designer and DJ who applies her passion for music into her designs. Duran's creative enthusiasm is focused towards streetwear and sportswear, using music and cultures to inspire her designs.
Being a Female Garage/140 DJ and my love for music has been the central inspiration for my designs. The sounds and cultures within the music industry and how they link to fashion has been a key interest for me and I love to use this as well as my own experiences to fuel my creative design work.
INSPIRATION
Ozde Duran’s 2025 Graduate Menswear collection, Warped Riddim, is passionately inspired by UK Grime music and its dynamic subculture. Grime expands beyond music; it’s an organic art form which narrates stories of deprivation and life within the urban subculture, allowing voices to be heard and not marginalised. Duran explores deeply into Grime’s visual representation and aesthetic, using fashion to outline the genre’s raw expression.
Embedded in personal experience, Duran’s involvement in the music and DJ scene supplied a deep understanding of its cultural roots, allowing Warped Riddim to interpret subcultural identity while cultivating it to become a new era of streetwear.
DETAIL
The collections desire is to portray the evolution of Grime culture. Duran reconceptualises elements of sportswear and streetwear by playing with oversized circular silhouettes inspired by vinyl’s which also is reflected by panelling. Duran wanted to embed the genre into the clothes by using pintucking to reflect distorted soundwaves and structure. This distortion shape follows through the collection by using waved panelling and stitching to further exhibit the music genre.
