Recently graduated with a BA(Hons) Fashion Communication. My activism is a heavy influence in all of my work. Focussing on issues surrounding feminism, body positivity, and diversity, I want to reflect generational attitudes and diverse identities and use my work as an educational tool.
I want to produce work that focuses on empowerment, collaboration, and unrestricted activity showcasing this through editorial photography, illustration, and written word. A new discourse needs to be created surrounding feminism and sexism within Gen Z to challenge the patriarchy and societal norms.
INSPIRATION
My 15-year-old sister is always asking for advice and what things mean. I found myself constantly defining terms and telling her why "you should never do that". I eventually asked if she was a feminist, and she said yes, so I asked if she knew what that meant, which she didn't. This is why I created SUGAR Zine. SUGAR Zine is a print and digital publication aiming to act as an older sibling, guiding Gen Z as they navigate themselves throughout the contemporary feminist movement.
Decoding feminism for the modern times. SUGAR is aiming towards a demographic of culturally diverse, liberal members of Gen Z, with a target age range of 16-21-year-olds. I want to give advice, offer a sense of belonging and community, and create a space where the 'F' word isn't so overwhelming and complicated.
DETAIL
I only like to edit external factors of my images such as lighting and background, I believe the model's features and skin should be left as they are, so I reflect this in my own work. My photography is a mixture of university briefs and personal projects. All captured with DSLR cameras and edited with a combination of Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.
