About Me

I'm Millie, a fashion design graduate from the University of Salford.

Coming from a design background I have always been creative and had a passion to do something different. My three years at Salford have really helped give me confidence in my work as well as the determination to design what I want. As a designer I love to make big shapes and interesting silhouettes that you wouldn't usually see walking down the street.

My work is about empowering women to feel their best and look their best. I hope be able to continue this throughout my work in years to come. Fashion to me is very much about how the person wearing the garment feels, who cares what anyone else thinks if you feel fabulous, you look fabulous.

INSPIRATION

My Inspiration for my final collection came from a podcast I found during lockdown.

The genre true crime is at its most popular due to the uprising of podcasts, tv shows, books, films and documentaries shown on tv and social media platforms. This is so intriguing to us as it brings thrill and terror to our minds as a unique way to connect and bring the reader/listener in. For my collection I intend to give my audience the feel of how you would feel after hearing a true crime story. For me it is all about the mystery, fascination, and thrill, you always want to know more.

As I researched more into the genre I decided to focus on the love of partners in crime. How two individuals come together to commit the unthinkable but would never be able to do it alone. Passion and love can be so sexy but horrifying.

DETAIL

To complement my final collection I made my own accessories including belts, earrings and straps.

Using 3D printing I have made a selection of different sized hands. One set of hands were used for straps therefore they had a cut out to feed fabric through, I also used this technique for belts. Another technique I used was to make bridges and glue D rings inside them, these were used for earrings. I think this really elevated my collection.
