My collection Solace is inspired by personal experiences of nostalgia during the pandemic. Looking back to memories for comfort, but also preparing for the future and whatever the world wants to throw at us next.
The process of creating this collection has been a very personal one. This is reflected through the development of my concept and practice. This collection is a body of work which has been brought together from personal experiences, coping mechanisms and views of the world we are living in now. This includes a look to the future after the big shift we have faced recently. I wanted to show how I filled the empty space which the pandemic created in my life.
INSPIRATION
Reflection as inspiration
Reminiscing of old times all created a comfort and an escapism which calmed me through a distressing time. Being away from family and unable to see friends, my belongings and the things around me became my source of reflection. Tracing memories that gave me joy and comfort while looking to the future and how as humans we have had to adapt to a new normal. A tapestry gifted to me by Nan just before lockdown gave me the inspiration to create something vibrant and unique.

Pattern Cutting
As a designer/maker I like to push myself to use methodical pattern cutting to create new shapes around the body and combine contrasting styles which also reflect my own style and clothing choices.
