I like to tackle design from all different life perspectives. People often comment that my design inspiration is boring because I like to enjoy life and observe the mundane, but I find that everything is inspiration and contains knowledge, not just what we see on the surface.
Design reflects both fantasy and the real world at the same time. When finding inspiration I like to interpret a the character's worldview from a fashion standpoint. Many people think fashion is arrogant, but I think fashion is born out of life's ups and downs. Fashion can help people understand different worldviews and the many aspects that make us who we are, as well as providing endless inspiration. To me Fashion is a truly wondrous thing.
I once created a work about a computer game called crazy boom. At the time it was just a simple idea, but I was lucky enough to win the school championship and it was then I realised this concept was worth further development. This time I wanted to create a real breakthrough collection that would inspire and so I searched the many themes and story telling of anime till I discovered Dragon Ball.
This particular anime is set in a world of war, the competition between the strong and the weak. The character of Frieza truly impressed me. Born in a harsh environment he became the strongest combatant in all situations. This time I am in control and the future is mine.... I have designed a fictional military uniform for future soldiers based on the characteristics and appearance of each character, using khaki and purple as my primary colours.
My design is mainly military uniform, so I use khaki as the main color, with spandex bodysuit as human skin to express the character setting of my collection, and use a lot of metal buttons and piping for decoration. Pattern cutting is my favorite design method, so can see lots of pattern cutting in my collection , and I also use pleated elements to express the layer of the design.
