About Me

I am a fashion branding student with an interest in film and styling. I would describe my personal style as trash mixed with Hollywood glamour. I find many inspirations through fantasy worlds, either from gaming, reading or in films. The aim of my project was to transport my viewers, I believe the best way to distract a person is through art.

A large part of my process is to create characters in my head, I like to imagine their personalities, mannerisms etc before I begin building their overall look. This is why I enjoy working with film so much; it allows me to create the full picture and build a story. Some of my final year characters have been formed through my own experiences of anxieties surrounding work, money, relationships etc. Turning these into glamorous and extravagant figures gave them less power and instead, I learned to appreciate them.

INSPIRATION

Looking into the subconscious mind.

Inspiration for my final year project stemmed from exploration into the subconscious mind. ‘Fish Heads and Falling Teeth’ is a short fashion film campaign that looks at the connection between the symbols in our dreams and real life. This project was filmed over three days and involved three locations, a team of ten and over seventy-five shots.

The concept for Fish Heads and Falling Teeth derived from looking at ways we as a population were able to mentally escape from the inside of our homes during lockdown. The extra time being indoors allowed me to reflect, become face to face with my thoughts and address my internal struggles, which I found was the case for many.

DETAIL

Everything plays out exactly how I want it to right here in my dreams

A short fashion film exploring escapism by contrasting reality and imagination in dreams. It is boldly styled using characterisation to build weird and wonderful narrative worlds.
