About Me

Hi, I'm Mathilde, passionate student from LISAA Fashion Paris

Interested in art since I was young, I have been looking for the art that would make me vibrate. From music to drawing, passing through photography, I finally leaned towards fashion. This interest was born from an internship at the Opéra de Paris with the dressmakers. Amazed by the costumes, this awakened my curiosity and desire to create clothes.

About me... I am a 21 year old mixed woman. In a society with relatively strict norms, being a mixed woman has sometimes been a problem. Paradoxically, I do not suffer from these discriminations. Of course, as a woman, I have received insults about my clothes, yes, as a mixed race woman, I have been humiliated for my curly hair. Nevertheless I am surrounded by women who really suffer from these discriminations and I would like to be strong for them. This collection is my will to change things, to give them back the hope they have lost.

INSPIRATION

I would like to create a refined and committed fashion

I like to be inspired by current events, and for my work to deliver a message. This year I wanted to address the subject of the woman's body: this body that belongs only to her and yet is constantly judged, stolen. This societal issue is particularly important to me. In our daily lives, women are criticized or insulted solely on their figure or the way they dress. The standards crush the differences, which are however essential.

Inspired by the Body Positive movement, by all those women who fight against beauty standards but especially by all the women around me, I ask myself the question of redefining this body. My collection is for all women and advocates the acceptance of all human body shapes.Through feminine and poetic clothes, the shapes are transformed, accentuated or revealed to show that there is no ideal body and that the one who possesses it is the only owner.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

The main element of my work is the silk organza that I dyed by hand

For my collection, I wanted to work with a system of slides. This system allows me to represent the deformations of the body by tightening them more or less. They also allow my clothes to be able to adapt to several different body shapes and thus to suit most women. The volumes are important, that's why I used mostly silk organza that I dyed by hand by creating random stains. The bright orange and blue colors are inspired by the stains created with toxic products. These brightly colored stains that appear on my clothes and "consuming" at the fabric are a reminder of how society will also come to "consuming" at the woman's body.
