I am Maria, a West African fashion business and promotion graduate
I am a lover of all things African, afrofuturism, social enterprise and the social justice. I am passionate about creating and developing strong support systems for black owned businesses as well as shedding an international light on the growth and potential of fashion in Africa.
I have developed skills in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, whilst conducting in-depth research on consumers and their behaviours and analysing new trends. Conducting Primary research, Field Research and Desk research to expand knowledge on new innovative topics. I have developed communication and presenting skills throughout modules to address my ideas.
INSPIRATION
Nu Cloud, an exclusive virtual platform that provides community & support to black owned businesses
The business is set to provide minority business owners a safe haven, a sense of belonging and a range of support to help them navigate their respective business sectors. The platform is more than a digital hub, it is a virtual community which aims to connect black owned business owners together, bridge the gap between them while promoting meaningful exchanges and socialisation. The virtual hub is set to help the users wellbeing by connecting them and pushing nurturing interactions.
The idea is to create a human co-experience utility where users will join Nu Cloud by referral only from current members of the platform. Users will access and share regular up to date information but also belong and be part of a growing community of minority businesses. Community leaders from many communities have started tearing down impending policies that affect the progression of black businesses.

Nu Cloud is a virtual platform for the people
Nu Cloud is not only a virtual platform offering financial guidance to black owned businesses, it is an exclusive virtual community promoting meaningful exchanges and socialisation as well as helping consumers by connecting them and pushing nurturing interactions. It is an exclusive virtual community which is accessible through referral only. Current members will be given three joining QR codes which they will be able to pass on to other businesses. Businesses will be able to join Nu Cloud by scanning a QR Code received from a current Nu Cloud member. The QR Code takes the user to the platform’s website from which they are prompted to download the Nu Cloud app on IOS and Android devices. Once the profile is set up, the user can navigate the little clouds which are different virtual rooms including the Match Cloud where a generator assigns you a member and their business and your challenge is to suggest improvements for this business.
Globally, the BLM movement, Covid-19 and the climate emergency are driving a reappraisal of consumerism, prompting people to filter their spend into businesses that do good. (LSN)
