About Me

My name is maria and my natural habitat is art and fashion

Born in Alicante, throughout my life I have shown an interest in fashion and design, that is why at 18 I decided to follow that passion and move to Milan, where I am studying fashion design and womenswear at the Marangoni institute.

All life my greatest interest and the best way to express myself has been through art. Since I was little, I have helped my mother with her sculptures and artworks and this made me feel very connected to everything that involves the process of creation. Discovering my passion for fashion at the same time as art and knowing that I could somehow put the two of them together to create something has been a liberation for me. Throughout my studies I have been developing skills that I didn´t know I could achieve, and that with luck I will be able to continue developing in my collections.

INSPIRATION

Amalassunta

Amalassunta is a reference to one of the ways that many people have found to escape from reality during this pandemic situation that is happening right know: art. In it, references are made to three artists who revolutionized the world of contemporary art; Osvaldo Lucini, Lucio Fontana and Marcel Duchamp. This work its a reinterpretation of how I used to implement art into my designs, making the references more adapted to what a functional garment is and trying to fuse both things in a softer way.

This three artist mentioned inspired with their work in many different ways: space through Fontana cuts, Dadaism by Marcel Duchamp, and the concept of ugly beauty that hides behind Osvaldo Lucini's painting Amalassunta. This ideas are mixed with some elements that inspired me for the details, as the retro colorful furniture from the 70´s 90s ´or heavy jewelry made with metals and plastic, and as a result the final work is a miscellany of different artistic elements that together create a visual harmony.

DETAIL

Puffed items

Throughout the collection I try to play with the experimentation in the puffed items. Part of the shapes used in several of the puffed garments are inspired by furniture such as the Gladis Love seat sofa. Other puffed garments contain gathering parts in areas such as collar or sleeves. With these references the purpose is to create something casual but at the same time artistic and contemporary.
