It has always been clear to me that my graduate collection will be about a societal problem, gender stereotypes.
I can't believe we are living in a world where people are not allowed to truly be themself because of the imposed dictates. I'm doing this collection for men tired of this manly world, for men who free themself.
INSPIRATION
I first got inspired by lyrics of a song of Eddy de Pretto, "Kid", it has opened my eyes on how much men from suburbs are struggling with their emotions and feelings during their whole life. From this, I started to get interested by the subject and this collection was the opportunity to work on it, by emasculating clothes thanks to my textile work.
This is all for this boy, who is not allowed, and is afraid to express his inner self. His virility is threatened, he always has to give pledges, authenticate it, validate it, in order to be accepted.
DETAIL
In order to emasculate my clothes, I did delicate textile work, to represent the hidden sensibility of men. Embroidered pearls, feathers, flocage on tulle, laser cut, engraving and prints.
