About Me

I'm Nakano, get to know me better

As a young girl I was given a Japanese amulet in a small cloth pouch. I thought to myself "How could this little bag supposed to protect me?" Then I opened the bag (which is sacrilege) and inside was a small wooden board with God's name written on it. This experience sparked my interest. The knowledge of God's existence, actions, prohibitions, beliefs excited

I loved working with my hands and enrolled in Bunka Fashion College, where I learnt about turning drama into clothing through fabric. I excel at dyeing for the required colour, hand needle work along with bold images. Another of my loves is when there is a hidden meaning of unimaginable cruelty and ruthlessness in stories about beauty, honor, and serenity. I like the expression "I would have been much happier in a blissful ignorance” It represents a stark reality. Just as I admire falling cherry blossoms, I want to love the moment when my beliefs crumble or what I hate is exposed.

INSPIRATION

The person is treated like a bubble floating in the water that disappears in the face of a stronger

This collection is nothing more than a bizarre yet intriguing story. "Gods are created by humans. If people have enough faith to become gods, it doesn't matter whether they were truly “gods” from the very beginning. And it doesn't matter if it's good or evil, faith is enough to build someone to become a God.

When I thought about the way to express something that we call "God", I realized that it should be hidden with clothes. Hands and faces expressing strong emotions, body lines allowing to read the "human" inside are sometimes just a noise. However, in human perception, it is more comfortable to show skin (for example, gods in art pieces have hands and faces). In addition, I used the decorations and make-up to express the light that humans might feel when they see God.

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

Creating illustrations, dyeing, handmade decoration, bright make-up

When designing the collection, I thought about the general flow of all the stories I wanted to tell and collected materials that could emphasize them. If the colour or shape didn't match my needs, I was dyeing, printing, sometimes burning, melting, knitting, and tearing fabrics. I made a dress out of a thick wire of car sun shade. I like glow-in-the-dark prints and durable knits and laces.

The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion. - Albert Camus
