Driven through challenging representation in the industry, I create work using diverse non-model casting in a venture for inclusivity. My work has a documentary style, capturing raw moments and real people. My practice also extends within art direction, casting and styling.
I work using both digital and analogue photography, as well as film-making. To showcase my subjects personality, I use interviews and primary research to create narratives. I think it’s important to celebrate self expression within fashion image, as well as using the medium to open conversations surrounding taboo topics.
INSPIRATION
My final project focused on opening the conversation surrounding the pressures of being twenty-something. I wanted to create a project which documented these feelings, making the topic less taboo and making others feel less alone. This was executed in the form of a photo book alongside a short film.
Twenty-Something captures a group of friends navigating life during their twenties. The project documents a group of my friends living in London. It follows Kate, Tori, Elise, Katie and Beth as they discuss the pressures they are currently facing such as job rejections, comparing yourself to others and the confusion of not knowing what to do with your life, as well as the uncertainty of the decade.
DETAIL
More recently I have been working using 35mm photography. I find that this creates a more organic and authentic image, as the composition is fully considered.
