Ma Jinchu majored in costume and costume design during her undergraduate period, mainly focusing on costume design for drama and film. I like reading and have great interest in culture. It's more about creating a character and a soul, rather than just a garment.
From the Angle of creation, I am going to try some new breakthrough in the idea of weaving, because the woven as a structural principle and functional role, its modelling language diversity, richness and profound connotation of the spirit of art form of drama, film and television characters shape and clothing design has reference and enlightenment effect.
INSPIRATION
The main source of inspiration for THE LANTERN is lanterns. In the process of investigation, I found that the bamboo weaving method of lanterns had a lot of similarities with the craft skills of clothing, so I disorganized and explored the parts that had common characteristics and could be corresponding. I made a process sheet based on their corresponding relationship, and began to return to the construction law of weaving itself.
We often say weaving a beautiful dream or a relationship. In terms of ideology and culture, weaving can be extended to thinking activities such as brewing thoughts, organizing materials and conceiving artistic conception. However, The Story of THE LANTERN is a fantasy story with intertwined characters woven into a fabric, so it is very suitable to express and display by weaving.

The concept of weaving is abstracted and its construction mode and aesthetic characteristics are analyzed from the perspective of weaving language.In the last moment of her life, the only thing she saw was a burnt lantern. The broken lantern was the end of her dream and love, as well as the end of her life. Therefore, I added the image of broken lantern to the modeling design of this role.
