Over the course of three years, Lulu Elliott's areas of focuses have varied across the fashion branding & communications scene, from writing editorial pieces for a magazine to designing and drawing floor plans for retail stores. Her skills for sure, run wide, with a brain full to the brim of ideas.
Throughout the duration of my degree, I have received many opportunities to explore myself creatively and discover who I want to be as a creative. Briefs given have enabled me to come up with endless innovative ideas, illustrating my talents and perhaps downfalls that show evidence of perseverance and persistence. I have an understanding of how the industry works, especially when it comes to team work, working as part of an editorial team and choosing to work as a collaboration for my final major project, TK Maxx Life.
INSPIRATION
Due to the pandemic, the high-street is quite literally at death's door. The shopping day aesthetic of subtle chart music playing in the background and 1,000 bags in between your arm, cutting go your blood circulation, has been completely demolished. Shops after shops with closing down sale posters in the window and 'to let' signs hung above. Something needed to change, it was time for me as a young creative to understand what the high-street needs in order to revive and get the love it deserves.
One of my main inspirations, once my research commenced, was the LSN Future Report 2022. From my understanding of the report, there were four main focal points, sustainability, immersive, contemplative stores & play-tail. This inspired my aims, to educate, entertain & re-gain our consumers trust. After these discoveries I decided to choose TK Maxx, whose competitors have all been closed down, to create and re-design a new flagship store to encourage & inspire the rest of the high-street.
DETAIL
For an alternative project I answered a hypothetical brief from Apple to explore todays society and the playfulness of the current generation. Virgil Abloh was the first designer to pop into my head surrounding these concepts, someone that ensured he explored both of these avenues and everything he did and produced. I created a pitch for the launch of a newly designed Apple collection, an Off White edit, with a PR launch event, PR gift for influencers, an invite, QR access to the metaverse, giving the ability for the legacies of Steve Jobs & Virgil Abloh to stay alive and a social media promotion.
