INSPIRATION

Final Major Project Overview

My final collection has developed from a initial idea, to create footwear that can not only be worn, but can be admired as sculptural pieces of art. This concept led me to Mariko Mori, an artist who constructs tactile, fluid and intertwined sculptural installations which invite the viewer to consider their own interpretations of her ambiguous forms. I wanted to bring these qualities into my own designs.

I determined that a simple colour palette with warm, natural materials would compliment and not detract from the dramatic, organically shaped designs. This process resulted in a collection of shoes with a variety of shapes, styles and constructions. Each piece is a bespoke, one of a kind item, offering its own unique attributes.

DETAIL

Final Note:

I completed my footwear design degree in May 2021 and feel well prepared for the challenges of a fast-paced working environment in the footwear industry. I can prioritise, plan and time manage tasks to successfully deliver multiple projects and demands at once. I have gained many skills and significant, relevant experience during my course, including, strong attention to detail, high quality footwear designs, technical and practical skills including drawing, Promarker use, closing and lasting. Full range of Microsoft applications, photoshop, illustrator and InDesign with experience of Romans CAD, Solidworks and Keyshot software. I am a highly motivated individual with an excellent record of attendance. I work well as part of a team or alone. My key strengths are creative flair, innovative design and the production of high quality, graphic content. In my final year, I excelled at producing ‘out of the box’ designs that were put forward for multiple footwear awards.

"I really appreciate all the background information and documented thought process here- and then how all that thought went into the design of the actual product[...]"-Jeff Staple, Prospect100 judge.
