About Me

My name is Luca Diaferia, fashion graduate from Norwich Uni Of Arts

Having had experience buying and selling vintage clothes. I want to enhance the vintage market further by pioneering new innovative forms of retail using music. Creating experience’s that will revolutionise how consumers view a shopping experience now and in the future. I even hosted a pop-up event while studying at University which incorporated live DJ's.

Having had an innate interest in vintage clothes and studying fashion marketing and business. I noticed a pattern has emerged, various vintage shops follow a similar format and lack identity and individuality making the retail experience dull. My love for music and fashion allowed me develop a concept which celebrates influential sub-cultures and my personal passions. This led me to create a the idea of incorporating more immersive experiences within the world of vintage retail by hosting events with live DJ's.

INSPIRATION

How I developed my love for clothing and DJ culture !

From an early age I have always had a love for clothing, art, music, pop culture and social history. This allowed me realise how musicians and brands become influential developing social and historical significance and how their following become movements. This has inspired my work and projects as everything I do is built on Passion, Love and culture.

Having grown up in the UK and coming from Italian decent I developed an understanding of the importance of culture and community. Having had family around me that grew up 70s, 80s and 90s allowed me to embrace vintage trends and cultures both in music and fashion as well as influences in my own life time. This developed my passion for both DJing and fashion as both sub-cultures are community based movements which has influence my idea development and work process.

My first pop-up and creating Late Checkout Vintage

For my final university project I developed my own pop-up event called "The Retail Dancefloor" hosted by my business Late Checkout Vintage at the Anteros Arts Foundation in Norwich on the 24/25 February 2023. For generations music and fashion have influenced each other, and I wanted to express this throughout this fashion project. This is why I built a business which hosts pop-up's which use live DJs and vintage clothes to create a multifunctional retail space. I hope this video shows the how this body of work celebrates the roots of how clothing styles such as street, sport and designer have become synonymous with music culture through the use of DJ’s and vintage. In a world which is becoming increasingly more digital, there is an authentic beauty in seeing and celebrating music and clothing in a physical and live setting.
