About Me

Hey! I'm Lauren, a menswear designer from West Yorkshire.

I am a northern fashion design graduate from Sheffield Hallam University, specialising in menswear design, with a love for CAD. I am fascinated with the future of the industry where fashion meets the digital world and I am looking forward to exploring this further after graduating.

Throughout the past 4 years I have enjoyed developing skills both in the uni studio and within the industry on my placement year, that have allowed me to explore my personal design style. All of which have led to the final collection you can see below, I am extremely proud of the work that I have produced and I look forward to applying all I have learnt into the fashion industry and continuing to discover more about myself as a designer.

INSPIRATION

[OVER]STIMULATED

An exploration into technology and digital immersion within today’s society, through the use of print, texture and manipulation techniques. Looking at a dystopian near-future of glitches and malfunction as a result of constant technology over exposure and its effect on our cognitive processing.

Today society is run by technology. It feels as though the very thing that was created to keep us connected is the one thing disconnecting us the most. Despite being an extraordinary resource, my interests lie within the downsides of such a powerful tool. With the implementation of artificial intelligence across apps we use daily and the evolution of systems that we become dependent on, it poses a great question surrounding the dangers of such complex systems and I find my self asking; how far is too far?

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

Cyanotype Print

Within my collection I have explored the use of print to create impact and depth, building on the development of manipulation techniques through out the range. Through the use of cyanotype printing I was able to create my own unique print through the use of layering mesh fabrics and exposing my fabric to light. This has allowed me to create a one of a kind print illusion that links back to the use of textures throughout my collection and has become one of my favourite and most impactful looks.

Don't forget to look up.
