About Me

Hi, I'm Laura, a fashion graduate from Coventry University.

Laura Webster is a fashion graduate who specialises in print design. Her final year collection is inspired by interiors, as many of the garments resemble items such as duvets, cushions and curtains; all things you would find in your home. Laura's print is brightly coloured, and is drawn from her collages of interiors.

After four years of studying fashion, I have developed a love of bold and colourful print. I decided to combine this with my interest in interiors. On my journey I have been greatly influenced by exploring the Karismatisk collaboration between Zandra Rhodes and IKEA, which inspired the crossover between wearable fashion and interiors, as well as inspiring the use of pleats, textures and bright prints. The colour palette I have chosen are warm and comforting colours, such as red, pink, purple etc, to emphasis the comfort I want my collection to bring to my audience.

INSPIRATION

Many people have been spending more time in the comfort of their homes.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020, many people have been spending more time in the comfort of their homes, often adjusting to being alone for extended periods of time. This has inspired me to create my “home-wear” collection. I want to enable people to be able to take the comfort of their home, and the safety it offers them, out when they left their house. I have created loungewear resembling home accessories such as cushions, pillows, duvets, and curtains as part of my final year project.

The print is brightly coloured with optimistic and fun shades which are repeated across the collection. The print was developed from a collage I have created based on feel-good interiors. The shapes of my garments show that I have also worked with constructed textiles as well as print. My collection includes oversized silhouettes to enhance both impact and comfort, and materials have been picked to be comfortable to wear.

DETAIL

My final year collection is centred around comfort and the home.

My collection photoshoot is centred around comfort and being at home. The photoshoot was done in a bedroom setting to show my garments purpose is to be cosy. The colours I have used are warm colours, and the materials have been picked to be soft on the wearer's skin. I wanted my photo shoot to be simplistic, to emphasis the garments, while being in a bedroom environment.
