About Me

Hi, I’m Laura, a fifth semester student at Colegiatura Colombiana.

Since my childhood, I have felt a strong fascination for fashion, which led me to take illustration courses and learn how to sew before enrolling in formal studies. This allowed me to delve into sustainable fashion, upcycling, and garment creation. My work is inspired by nature and origins and is characterized by a narrative and conceptual approach.

My university experience has provided me with fundamental tools to strengthen my creative process, from design to fabric manipulation, enabling me to develop my technical and illustration skills. Taking part in two consecutive editions of the Young Creators runway was a valuable learning experience that gave me a deeper insight into the professional world within the fashion industry. I discovered that this path demands dedication and abundant passion, qualities I am willing to continue cultivating in my career.

INSPIRATION

Internal journey

The collection is based on a character I have created, a reflection of my life and my aspirations to fulfill. This character is a young adventurer and volunteer passionate about travel, languages, cultures, and helping others. Despite her expectations of a new life when leaving, she feels nostalgic and emotional when she is alone, questioning her decision to leave her home. Although she hides her vulnerability in public, she shows strength and joy.

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

The outfits are a means for her to center herself and feel at home.

The ties represent the bonds of the past that exert pressure on her body but allow her to move forward. Wide and padded silhouettes create the comfort and warmth of home. Gathered elements symbolize her countless journeys around the world, with circular cuts suggesting an endless journey. The garments are practical and versatile, to maintain her agility and comfort. Wraparound silhouettes represent the idea that her home is always with her, no matter where she is.

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." - Albert Schweitzer
