About Me

I am Lara Blankertz, a hardworking business minded young creative.

Circular business models need to be implemented within all industries in order to protect our environment. A key area of impact is the constant buy-to-throw consumerism related to holidays. With motivation behind this, I created Tourdrobe, a holiday rental service catering the international youth travel market-creating easier, lighter and more eco-adventures.

We need to make sure we are discovering sustainable ways in our everyday lives, within all aspects. It is important to realise the major effect our holiday decisions are making on the environment, specifically for those clothing pieces you buy for single wear use only. Through buying into a circular business model and using a rental clothing service for holidays it will improve the impact of one’s travel-related decisions. This will put a haltering effect on the damages the fashion industry has on our planet.

INSPIRATION

My idea was created from a university module exploring the end of ownership.

With a brief to create an innovative concept of a new brand, tackling over-consumption combined with an increasing lack of engagement from an over-stimulated audience, this holiday rental service was created. Through research it became clear that there is a niche in the market for a holiday clothing rental business and that the extreme effects that individuals are making through buying new for holiday is apparent.

I wanted to produce an experience for the youth travel market that caters to their holiday clothing requirements, easing their travels all while being sustainable. Through targeting an international market, this business can provide for an extraordinary amount of the youth travel market making up of gen z and millennials. With sustainability at its core ethos, this brand anticipates making improved choices more available to a large scale of consumers, globally.

MY WORK

PORTFOLIOS

DETAIL

I created an app platform to provide the youth travel market with clothing on their travels.

Through researching it became clear to me that travelling comes with small baggage allowances and constant buy to throw consumerism. Discovering how to target the youth travel market meant it needed to focus on creating a logical and effective platform. It was a particularly evident that this market relies heavily on technology while on their adventures, with their phones being with them every step of the way. This meant creating a Tourdrobe app, for ease while using around the world.I experimented with app design, producing a seamless user experience. The app features the location in which the brand is based, where the consumer can browse a selection of men’s and womenswear, choosing the right clothing for their travels. The business also offers a more catered experience, where one can browse ‘climate packs’ in order to help decide what clothing they will need for specific holidays. The customer then simply rents with Tourdrobe, picking up their clothing pack at the companies’ global based destinations.
