About Me

Hi I'm Lacie! a Fashion Design and Marketing graduate from Northumbria

I’m a fashion design and marketing graduate from Northumbria University. Specialising in knitted lingerie, offering a unique style of lingerie with our sustainable concept. All our garments within the brand will be manufactured using only natural materials and yarns to ensure all our garments can be planted at the end of their life.

Lacie brings something new to the market through delicate knitted lingerie, with stretch and closeness of fit achieved by using a variation of knitted techniques. The Lacie brand was developed with the environment in mind ensuring all aspects of the brand are sustainable. During my FMP I found a passion for machine knitting, exploring the different variations of yarns and the qualities of different materials as well as experimenting creating different techniques to see which would be best to offer to our consumers a range of bright and fun knitted lingerie.

INSPIRATION

Inspiration for Lacie's collections

'Out and About' is Lacie's launch collection, offering a range of delicate knitted lingerie using the softest wool and cotton yarns ensuring they are biodegradable at the end of their life and planted with the seeds provided. The inspiration for this collection looks closely at the details on architecture and buildings in different cities that I've visited for initial design and details inspiration. Looking at traditional lingerie shapes and vintage knitted lingerie for silhouette inspiration.

'Cosy Reef' is Lacie’s first loungewear collection perfect to be worn over our knitted lingerie pieces around the home. Inspiration for this collection comes from looking at the textures and shapes from sea coral and this is replicated by using a range of knitted techniques and oversized silhouettes using a blend of cotton and wool yarns with cotton fabric.

DETAIL

Knitted Details

When designing lingerie, it is important to ensure that the lingerie will be comfortable against the body and that the fit is correct to ensure it offers the consumer the required support. I achieved this by using the softest wools and cottons and regularly checking the sizing on a mannequin throughout the whole making process. To add details and bring colour through in my designs to make them unique, I used a combination of knitted techniques with different blends of yarn making each design very different. To ensure my garments matched with my brand philosophy of being biodegradable at the end of their life, I replaced using elastic with knitting in a ribbed technique which gives a natural stretch to ensure they would fit around the body nicely.
